Marlene Van Den Berg, a co-partner heads the Conveyancing Department. In addition to being a conveyancer, she is also a notary public.
Conveyancing is a specialist field of property law. All conveyancers are attorneys, but not all attorneys are conveyancers. Conveyancers have additional training and qualifications to do this type of work in the property law industry.
A conveyancer is responsible for the transfer of properties and registering new mortgage bonds when a home loan is granted. A conveyancer also cancels existing bonds when the bond has been paid or a property is sold. Apart from this, a conveyancer will also register bonds where companies and private individuals require this to be done.
Conveyancers are also required when an antenuptial contract or ANC is registered and when long-term leases, servitudes, and other specific rights need to be registered in the deeds office.
Although there are many other functions that a conveyancer will fulfill, most people will encounter conveyancing services
-when there is a property transfer, to make sure the new owner has a property that is registered in his or her name and
-when you register a bond, that the bank has proper security and that there is, generally speaking, good order and certainty in property matters.
We are on the panel of three of the major banks in South Africa. They, like many of our loyal client base, rely on us and our use of cutting-edge technology, a highly experienced and dedicated team, and a reputation for excellence to ensure that we provide good consistent service with integrity.
Heinrich Schmidt, the other co-partner, heads up this department. Although he is also a conveyancer, he has a passion for this work.
We act exclusively for landlords and have a reputation for ensuring the rights of the landlord are enforced, when we start an eviction matter, we finish the eviction matter. Nothing more needs to be stated in this regard.

We have created integrated debt collection and risk management solutions for clients, whether to assist in the screening of a potential business contact, or with the recovery of the debt at the end of the relationship, or anything in between.
Heinrich Schmidt and Memory Msiska are responsible for this department.
Death and taxes are certain and whilst we don’t provide tax advice, we have been entrusted with a significant amount of deceased estates. Many of our clients have, over the years chosen a partner at the firm as executor of his or her estate. For us, this is the ultimate compliment as we are entrusted with the final winding up of the affairs of the client who also became a friend.
Our approach is very simple, we work on trust and integrity, and we apply our years of experience to provide a certain outcome and comfort for the relatives and those left behind. Even if we are not the appointed executor in terms of a will, we will gladly assist family members and professionals who may have been appointed as executors and who need the necessary guidance.
